Basic Life Support (BLS)
The Basic Life Support (BLS) course equips participants with the essential skills needed to quickly identify and respond to a variety of life-threatening emergencies. It focuses on delivering high-quality chest compressions, administering effective ventilations, and ensuring the early use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) when necessary. Through hands-on training and instruction, participants learn how to act swiftly and efficiently in critical situations, increasing the chances of survival for individuals experiencing cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, or other severe medical conditions. The course also emphasizes the importance of maintaining a calm and systematic approach while providing emergency care until advanced medical help arrives.
The BLS course teaches participants how to perform high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, ensuring they can provide life-saving chest compressions and ventilations in an emergency. It emphasizes the critical components of the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Chain of Survival, with a focus on the BLS steps to maximize patient outcomes.
The course highlights the importance of teamwork in multirescuer situations, training participants to work effectively with others during CPR. Additionally, it covers techniques for relieving foreign-body airway obstructions (choking) in both adults and infants, ensuring participants are prepared to handle these common emergencies.
Participants will also learn the proper use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in early resuscitation efforts, as well as how to administer effective ventilations using a barrier device. These skills are vital for providing immediate care during cardiac arrest or respiratory distress.
